FAQs

Here is a selection of frequently asked questions for our services.

  • What is the best time to start biology tutoring?

    It’s ideal to start tutoring as early as possible, particularly if you’re struggling with the subject or aiming for top grades. Early tutoring allows for a more gradual and thorough understanding of the material. Jane and her team get booked-up very quickly so book in early to avoid disappointment.

  • How often should I have biology tutoring sessions?

    Jane and her team offer weekly sessions. This is best for continuity and momentum. Some pupils may be seen more regularly on request. Extra sessions are available at exam times.

  • Will the tutor help me with exam techniques and past papers?

    Yes, we specialise in exam preparation, offering strategies for answering questions effectively, managing time during exams, and understanding the marking schemes. We regularly use past papers to practice and reinforce these skills. We also offer thorough explanations when pupils make mistakes and offer weekly sets of questions to all pupils for more, optional practise.

  • What levels of biology can I get tutoring for?

    We cover all levels of biology tutoring for the Scottish Curriculum:

    HLP learning (Primary years);

    BGE Biology (1st and 2nd years);

    National 4 Biology (3rd and 4th years);

    National 5 Biology (3rd to 6th years);

    Higher Biology/Human Biology (5th year - college)

    Advanced Higher Biology (6th year - college).

    Advanced Higher Biology Project  (6th year - college)

  • Can I get biology tutoring online, or does it have to be in person?

    Both options are available. Online tutoring is increasingly popular and is available from the whole team. All groups are online using Zoom. In-person tutoring is available from Jane only, and pupils travel to her in South Lanarkshire.

  • How do I prepare for a biology tutoring session?

    To get the most out of your tutoring session, it’s helpful to come prepared with specific topics or questions you need help with. Bringing class notes, textbooks, and past exam papers can also help the tutor tailor the session to your needs. However, if you are not sure where to start, Jane and her team have extensive experience and will be able to guide you.
